Ask first,
book with confidence.
A few straight questions before you book tell you almost everything about a courier, so here is what to ask and what a good answer actually sounds like.
Timing and the real ETA
Start with timing, because it is the thing most likely to go wrong. Ask when the vehicle can collect and when it will realistically arrive, and listen for an answer based on the distance and the road rather than a vague reassurance that it will be fine.
A good courier talks in real terms. They will factor in where the driver is, the route and the time of day, and give you a window you can plan around. If the reply is breezy and round-numbered, press for the reasoning behind it.
Price, vehicle and routing
Three questions sit close together here. Is the price fixed before the driver sets off, what vehicle will actually turn up, and is the job dedicated and direct or shared with other drops along the way? The answers shape both the cost and the reliability.
What you want to hear is a fixed quote with no meter, a vehicle matched to your load from a fleet that runs from motorcycle to articulated lorry, and one job per vehicle. That combination means no depot sorting, no co-loading and no surprises when the van appears.
Cover if something goes wrong
Finally, ask how the load is protected and how the handover is recorded. Is there goods-in-transit insurance, can you track the vehicle on the way, and will you get photo proof of delivery confirming exactly when and to whom it was handed over?
Strong answers come without hesitation, because a serious courier treats cover and proof as standard rather than extras. If any of it sounds optional or unclear, that uncertainty is your answer, and it usually means looking elsewhere.
Turning answers into a booking
Good questions only help if you act on them, so weigh the replies together rather than fixating on price alone. The cheapest quote is no bargain if the timing is wishful or the cover is thin.
When the answers stack up, booking is simple. Our same-day courier service is built to pass exactly these questions, with a fixed quote on the route and a dedicated vehicle from the moment you call.
