Five things that get
you a faster quote.
A good courier quote needs only a handful of details, and having them ready turns a quote from a back-and-forth into a single, quick exchange.
Why the right details speed everything up
A quote is only as accurate as the information behind it. When you can describe the job clearly in one go, a carrier can match the right vehicle, plan the route and give you a firm figure without circling back for more.
None of it is complicated, and you do not need exact measurements to the gram. Rough, honest figures are enough to get moving. The aim is simply to paint a clear picture of what is being collected, where it is going and when it has to arrive.
The details to have ready
Gathering these before you make contact keeps things smooth:
- Collection and delivery postcodes, so the distance and route are clear.
- What the goods are, in plain terms, including anything fragile, hazardous or unusually valuable.
- A rough weight, the approximate size and the number of items or pallets.
- Your deadline, whether that is a same-day window or a specific delivery time.
- Access notes at each end, such as stairs, a loading bay, parking limits or restricted opening hours.
With those five things to hand, most jobs can be priced in a single conversation.
Turning the details into a quote
Once you share the picture, the carrier can suggest the right vehicle and confirm what the run involves. For short local same-day work a quote often starts from around fifteen pounds, while longer or specialist jobs are priced per job on the route.
Either way you should expect a fixed quote before the driver sets off, with no vague estimates that drift upward later. If you are unsure what to include, send what you have when you ask for a quote and any gaps can be filled in together.
