Where the small van sits

A small van is the natural next step up from a motorcycle. It handles loads up to roughly 400kg and a useful run of boxes, parcels and modestly sized items, which covers a large slice of everyday courier work. When a bike is too small but a Sprinter would be overkill, this is the vehicle.

It earns its keep on value. You get a dedicated vehicle and a sensible amount of space without paying for a larger van you do not need, so the cost stays proportionate to the job. For day-to-day deliveries, it is often the most economical dedicated option that still offers real capacity.

What typically fits

The honest answer is plenty, as long as it is not heavy or oversized. A small van will usually take several stacked boxes, a few medium parcels, a couple of suitcases' worth of goods or a single bulky-but-light item. The limit tends to be weight or awkward dimensions rather than the floor space itself.

What does not fit is anything pallet-sized or seriously heavy. Once you are talking about a loaded pallet, large furniture or a load nudging past 400kg, you have outgrown it and a Sprinter or Luton becomes the right call. Matching the vehicle to the load up front avoids a wasted trip.

When to choose it

Reach for a small van when your load is too big or too valuable to send on a bike but nowhere near a full van of freight. It is ideal for a handful of boxes, a single sizeable parcel or an urgent run of stock, delivered direct on its own vehicle with live tracking and photo proof of delivery.

Pricing follows the same simple pattern as the rest of the fleet. A short local same-day job often starts from around £15, and anything further is priced per job and on the route, with a fixed quote before the driver sets off.
