Into the room,
not the hallway.
A sofa or a fridge is only delivered properly when it reaches the spot it is meant to sit, and that takes the right crew, the right kit and a little planning.
Why two hands beat one
Furniture and white goods are heavy, bulky and easy to damage, both the item and the home it is going into. A single person wrestling a wardrobe up a staircase is a recipe for scuffed walls and strained backs. Two crew can lift, balance and steer a large item safely, sharing the weight and watching the corners.
A second person also makes light work of the awkward moments: guiding an appliance round a tight turn, lifting over a step, or holding a door while the other manoeuvres. Our two-man delivery guide explains how the crew works and when the job really calls for it.
Tail-lifts, stairs and tight access
Getting a heavy item off the vehicle safely usually means a tail-lift, which lowers it to the ground without a risky lift down a ramp. From there, stairs, narrow hallways, sharp turns and lifts all shape how the item travels into the home, and each is far easier to handle when it has been thought about beforehand.
Access can make or break the delivery. A wide sofa that will not fit through a doorway, a fridge that cannot turn at the top of the stairs, or a van that cannot park near the entrance all cause delays if they are a surprise on the day. Knowing the route in means the crew arrives ready for it.
Placement in the room of choice
A proper delivery does not end at the front door. The item is carried to the room where it belongs and set down in place, so a new appliance is in the kitchen and a bed is in the bedroom rather than blocking the hall. That is the difference between a drop-off and a delivery worth booking.
Where an old item needs to come out to make room, or packaging has to be cleared away, those details are worth mentioning too. The more the crew knows about what is happening at the address, the more smoothly the whole visit goes from arrival to the final position.
Describe the access and the item
The two things that make these jobs run well are a clear description of the item, its size and weight, and an honest picture of the access at both ends, including stairs, parking and doorways. Furniture and white-goods work is priced per job and on the route, with a fixed quote before the driver sets off.
